Description

The Two Homes and the Car Shop, has its own 3 Ton Water to Air Waterfurnace system.

The Units in the Homes have Desupheaters on them to help produce domestic hot water.

The unit for the Shop is simply for Heating & Cooling Only.

The Home & Property that Bernie & Gail Fritshaw own and live in, along with the shop and the older family home, is situated along the top of hillside that drops sharply down to a flowing creek. The location is very beautiful but extremely challenging in respect to each of the 3 geothermal loop installations.

There is a 2000 Sq ft 35 year old Home that Bernie & Gail Live in.

There is a 1100 Sq Ft Shop that Bernie uses for Remodeling Old Vintage Cars.

There is a 1600 Sq Ft 80 year old Family Home that Bernie's Son Lives in.

Concerns

The newer 35 year old house is 2000 sq. ft. The house was previously heated with Oil and a Air to Air Heat Pump. The oil was very expensive. When the information became available thru their research efforts, Bernie and Gail decided the time was right to go geothermal. “We all have to be concerned about energy efficiency,” they say, and they wanted a system that would not be reliant upon fossil fuels. They were also willing to invest more capital upfront, for a long-lasting system such as geothermal compared to replacing all the existing older oil fired equipment with newer high efficient Oil and Air Conditioner. As well the Rebates made it easy to decide which system was best.

The Shop was an area that Bernie work in, a lot in respect to his love for making old cars look new again. He wanted to remove oil as the source of heating and also provide more Efficient Heating & Cooling option other then Oil Furnace & Window type A/C units. He spend's much of his time at his shop & is usually found there.

The older 1600 Sq ft home that Bernie originally grew up in required a more efficient option then oil and traditional air conditioning, now that his Son was about to take over the property.

Planetpower.ca Geothermal Specialist is to arrange the installation of 3 Waterfurnace Forced Air Geothermal units and Matching Loop systems.

Shop = 3 Ton Water to Air Versatec Heating System with No Domestic Hot Water Production

Bernie & Gail's Home & Older Family Home = 3 Ton Water to Air Envision units for each of the Two houses, were installed with a desuperheater (hot water heater) hooked up to the hot water tank. Three 1.25 inch HDPE Heat Hogg Geothermal Pipe Ground loop measuring 1,500 ft. in length each was buried starting from each of the 3 structures leading down the hill that drops sharply and then along creek.

So a total of 4500 ft of 1.25 inch HDPE Heat Hogg Geothermal Pipe was installed down a hillside, that drops sharply, in a very challenging area near a creek.

The geothermal unit provides forced air heating and air conditioning to the entire house.

In addition to the geothermal system, the Geothermal Specialist at planetpower.ca also installed new ductwork to adapt to the Existing Ductwork.

We also put in a washable Electrostatic air filtration system to remove fine dust and particulates from the air to improve air quality for the Fritshaw family.

Conclusions to Date November 1st/08

The installation of the geothermal system coupled with the upgrade in insulation values of both homes and ductwork will result in great gains in efficiency

Bernie and Gail Fritshaw should have his heating bills reduced by at least 70%.

Into the Future years, Bernie and Gail Fritshaw will have ample time to fully enjoy the benefits geothermal energy has to offer. In his own words, “I am a happy customer with respect to the installation”. The Fritshaws are going to enjoy a range of additional benefits from their geothermal system. The Value of their house has increased, because of the greater value accorded to a geothermal system. The system is completely safe, & will also maintain a consistent air temperature better than anything the Fritshaws have experienced in the past, with the Oil System.
